Quick answer

Start with the currency and due date on each booking. Keep separate totals for TRY, GBP, EUR, and USD. Convert only when you need a comparison or a confirmed payment amount.

Start with your bookings

A useful travel budget starts with your own prices. Write down the accommodation quote, transport bookings, planned activities, and money for daily spending. Keep each amount in the currency on the booking. Do not assume that every business uses the same currency or accepts your preferred payment method.

Check the payment date next to each amount. A deposit paid before travel differs from a balance due on arrival. Record what you already paid so that you do not count it again. Confirm cancellation conditions directly with the business. This guide does not estimate current prices in Northern Cyprus.

Keep one total for each currency

Use a small table with the item, original amount, currency, due date, and payment method. The following figures are invented planning examples. They are not local prices or suggested spending amounts.

ItemUnpaid amountCurrencyPlanned payment
Accommodation balance240EURConfirm with the property
Local spending envelope3,000TRYCash where accepted
Transport booking40GBPConfirm with the supplier

These amounts cannot be added directly. Keep three currency totals. You can add a separate comparison column in your usual budget currency. Label that column with the rate and date you used. Update it before payment if the quote changes.

Plan the amount you need to exchange

Separate a foreign currency purchase from a foreign currency sale. If you give GBP and receive TRY, the office buys your GBP. If you give TRY and receive EUR, the office sells EUR. Read the buy and sell guide before you compare offers.

Use the converter for a basic calculation. Ask the office for the final amount after all charges. The fees guide shows why the highest displayed rate does not always produce the largest payment.

Check cash and card payments separately

Ask each business which payment methods it accepts. A card payment can have conditions that differ from a cash exchange. Your card issuer may also apply charges. Do not use an office's displayed cash rate as a guaranteed card rate.

If a terminal offers a currency choice, pause before you confirm. Read the card currency article for the information to compare. Keep enough flexibility for changes to your own plans, without treating any sample budget as a recommendation.

Check the office before you travel

Use the office map to find a source location. Confirm the address, opening hours, currency availability, and final quote with the office. A map point does not confirm that a business is open or that it holds the amount you need.

Save the useful guides to your reading list for later. The list stores links on this device. It does not download the articles. For saved pages and rate limits, read offline use.
